Hg has reached a first close of about €1bn on Orion 1, its debut GP-led secondaries fund, according to The Wall Street Journal. That is past halfway to the €1.75bn target, after around six months in the market. The fund follows a dedicated GP-led team Hg set up in January, extending its strategy into single-asset deals in software and tech-enabled services businesses held by other sponsors. Dushy Sivanithy, partner and head of secondaries, leads the team after more than seven years at CPP Investments, where he ran secondaries and launched the single-asset programme. Daniel Ward, another former CPP colleague, has also joined. Jefferies puts 2025 secondaries volume at a record $240bn, up 48%, with GP-led deals making up $115bn, a 53% rise. Continuation vehicles accounted for 14% of sponsor-backed exits globally, per the same bank.
