Dated and permanent — an edition is never rewritten after publication; corrections land in its changelog.
The week's fund-industry signal, curated: fund launches and closes, manager and
servicer moves, and figures from our own registers. Every trade-press item links its
source and ends with why it matters to someone who runs or services funds. Trade-press
items are published only after every cited source was machine-verified; register
figures are computed from the published data files. This is a dated, permanent
edition — it is not updated after publication; corrections land in the changelog.
Ares has raised roughly $4.2bn for its first dedicated structured solutions fund. That is more than four times the $1bn target it set at launch. The vehicle is the firm's first built specifically around structured capital, rather than folded into an existing credit fund. The scale of the overshoot points to investor demand beyond what Ares itself expected for a debut strategy.
Partners Group is splitting its €6.6bn Global Value SICAV evergreen fund into two portfolios, months after capping redemptions in June. One fund will sell assets to fund withdrawals; the other takes new subscriptions and targets higher returns. Investors can keep their current stake, switch funds, or redeem. The firm runs $186bn in assets, with 29% in evergreen vehicles across more than 30 funds.
Oaktree has raised $2bn for its first dedicated institutional asset-backed finance fund. The fund sits inside Brookfield, whose parent credit platform has now passed $60bn. That scale puts Oaktree's new strategy inside one of the larger asset-backed financing books in the market.
Investcorp has closed its second dedicated North American private equity fund at $1.22bn. That beat its $1.1bn target. The fund backs middle-market services businesses. It extends the firm's North American platform beyond its debut vehicle.
HanseMerkur Grundvermögen has launched its sixth real estate debt fund, targeting up to €500m. The insurer's property arm already manages more than €7bn in real estate assets. Fund VI will write senior secured whole loans in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, a shift from Fund V's subordinated and syndicated financing. It has already put capital to work, refinancing Düsseldorf Airport's Holiday Inn Express with a €40m green loan. HanseMerkur Insurance Group keeps a permanent 20-30% stake in both funds. The manager points to banks turning more selective under higher rates and tighter capital rules as the gap it's filling.
SoftBank has closed its $3.1bn buyout of DigitalBridge. The digital infrastructure manager now sits inside SoftBank as a controlled subsidiary. Separately, Wendel has exited its stake in Stahl for €2.1bn.
All three SEC commissioners backed proposals to let individuals qualify for private fund investments through a financial-sophistication test or professional credentials. The plan also widens which funds can charge performance fees and loosens interval-fund repurchase timing. A 60-day comment period follows. It lands as institutional PE fundraising stays weak, with PitchBook putting H1 2026 at $160bn, in line with 2025's already soft pace.
Apollo is extending daily pricing across its $850bn credit platform, covering direct lending, asset-backed finance, multi-credit and opportunistic strategies. Asset-level pricing starts 30 October.
The central Public Plans Database defines a private-equity expense field; across 254 tracked plans it has effectively never been populated — PE fees and carried interest sit inside aggregate lines or outside the accounts entirely. Where a figure is not disclosed, that absence is the data point; nothing here can or should be inferred.
