How private-equity funds actually performed — CalSTRS' own numbers

US public pension plans must disclose how each private-equity fund they invested in has performed. This table is CalSTRS' own reported record — 470+ funds with the money committed, the net IRR (the yearly return after fees) and the net multiple (derived) (how many dollars back per dollar in). No data vendor sells you this; the LP publishes it.

Two honest caveats before you read: the figures run about two quarters behind (private funds report slowly), and young funds always look bad at first — fees are charged before profits arrive (the "J-curve") — so judge funds from vintages at least 4–5 years old.
